Salmon Fishing Hippa Island

September already???

Time flies when you’re fishing… Where did the season go?  It feels like we just arrived at Hippa Island and now it’s time to leave again and say farewell until next year. Such torn emotions, obviously we all miss our friends, family, and loved ones but there are still fish to catch!!! Leaving solid yellow bait balls behind as we sail past Hippa Rocks out of the North Passage to make our 40 mile journey up the West Coast, past the Northwestern tip of Haida Gwaii.  As we turn the corner at Langara Island and head across the top to the Eastern tip called Rose Spit, just before the spit, there is tow hill and a North Beach known for epic surfing waves during the months of October through May. Fantastic crabbing mostly conducted by dip nets , snorkeling for Dungeness and even crabbing off stand up paddle boards. Perhaps a mid winter trip back up here for some world class steelhead fishing and invigorating surfing and kite surfing adventures…  Endless opportunities in this abundantly plentiful and breathtaking archipelago. Sharing fish in the Haida culture is a sign of respect. Every single day, I thank the fish gods and after another successful fishing season, I am humbled once again…

Thank you to all of our guests and our crew for another unforgettable year onboard the MV Charlotte Queen. Only 76 spots left, call us soon to reserve your spot! Looking forward to fishing with you again next season!
